Steps

1. Go to Settings > Generative AI and check that Use generative AI orchestration for your agent's responses? is set to Yes (the default for new agents)
2. Rewrite the description of every topic, tool and knowledge source: what it does, when to use it, and what it doesn't do. The agent picks among them mainly by these descriptions
3. Make similar items clearly different (for example, 'current leave balance' vs 'leave policy') so the agent doesn't pick the wrong one
4. Test a two-part request such as 'What's the travel policy, and log a ticket for my broken laptop'
5. Open the activity map at the top of the test pane to see which topics, tools and knowledge it chose, then fix any description that led it astray

Here are the names and descriptions of the topics, tools and knowledge sources in my Copilot Studio agent. Rewrite each description in plain, active voice, 1-2 sentences: what it does, when the agent should use it, and one thing it doesn't do. Make any two items that overlap clearly different. Keep the names short and specific. Flag any item whose purpose is unclear.
